Who We Are: A Letter from Coordinista's CEO
Hi, I’m Cindy Bauer, CEO and founder of Coordinista. I want to start this blog off by sharing a bit of my story and the why behind this company I am so passionate about. Before I became a business owner, I spent many years as a nurse, working in settings as varied as the ICU and oncology units in hospitals, to long-term care, care management, transitions of care, and hospice. My journey has been diverse, but it has always been focused on one thing: improving the lives of the patients I serve and the clinicians I work alongside.
It was during my time as a care manager—providing telephonic and face-to-face care coordination in homes, hospitals, and skilled nursing facilities—that I began to see a glaring problem. The tools we were given to do our jobs, like electronic health records (EHRs) and care management platforms, were never designed for the realities of decentralized, in-the-field care delivery.
The challenges were relentless. I watched my colleagues, incredible nurses and social workers, struggle under the weight of inefficient systems. Their frustration was palpable, and the toll it took on them day after day was heartbreaking. Some began taking anti-depressants, others experienced severe stress-related health issues, and many ultimately left the profession altogether—and this was before the additional pressures brought on by Covid-19.
Worse yet, the patients we were trying to help often fell through the cracks, missing out on the services they needed. Too often, they ended up back in the emergency room or hospitalized—a cycle that could have been prevented.
I knew there had to be a better way. So, I created it.
My years of experience using technology to deploy field teams for political campaigns and ballot initiatives, showed me what was possible. By applying the lessons I learned to healthcare, I was able to reduce hospital readmissions for the patients in my caseload by a remarkable 30%.
When the company I was working for lost its contract in Michigan, leaving 150 of us without jobs, I realized it was time to take the leap. I channeled my passion for improving care delivery and my vision for empowering clinicians into what would become Coordinista.
Our mission is clear: to provide the best tools in the nation for field care delivery. We are dedicated to equipping every provider, health plan, care manager, and field clinician with the resources they need to deliver timely, efficient, and effective care wherever it’s needed.
The name Coordinista reflects our vision—combining fast, friendly, local service (think your favorite barista) with the kind of seamless coordination that healthcare desperately needs.
At Coordinista, we believe that when clinicians are supported, they thrive along with their patients. It’s a win-win.
If this mission resonates with you, I hope you’ll join us in making a difference. Visit our website, follow us on social media, and share Coordinista with the nurses and clinicians in your life. Together, we can ensure that every healthcare worker has the tools they need to care for their patients—and themselves—better than ever before.
Let’s make it happen, together.
Warmly,
Cindy Bauer
